In the spirit of the epic Opening Galas and Kick Offs preceding it, SFBW Fest is _the_ place to sample a multitude of SFBW collaborations and special releases in one place, poured by Bay Area breweries, while taking in amazing city views from up high — literally, a 5.4-acre public park in the sky.

While hops get all the glory in the beer world, here’s an exploration of the “other” beer ingredient: malt. Admiral Maltings was founded in 2017 by a couple of local brewing legends, Dave McLean (Magnolia) and Ron Silberstein (ThirstyBear), along with Curtis Davenport who had experience in local farming and malting. Admiral Maltings is the first modern craft malting house in California.

For this event, we will pour on draft a variety of beers from differnt breweries whose common factor is their use of Admiral Malts. We will be joined by founder Dave McLean and others, with malts to sample.

Chef Raiden will also be doing some food specials made with Admiral Malts.

Wander around historic North Beach tasting the area's finest local craft beers all while supporting our favorite local old dog rescue organization, Muttville. $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Check Eventbrite for 20% discount code good for first 100 guests.

There will be 8 local breweries and 8 local bars participating. Each bar will have a mini tap takeover from a world-class local brewery. With your wristband, you will be eligible for discounted flights and pints at each of the North Beach bars. Check out what one bar/brewery has to offer then shuffle on over to the next nearby location and do the same.

Check in at The Boardroom to receive your wristband (for the discounts and entry) meet some dogs then venture out and have a blast! After checking in at The Boardroom (pouring Ghost Town) head out to the other North Beach bars from there: Chief Sullivans (Almanac), Columbus Cafe (Oakland United), Belle Cora (Black Hammer), Savor Tivoli (Headlands), Waystone (Barebottle), Showdown (Standard Deviant), Legacy (East Brothers). Some locations have food, some locations have dogs, all locations have fun!

East Bay All-Stars

Come join us for a beer showdown at Jupiter on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, CA, USA! Don't miss out on this epic battle of the East Bay's finest! The East Bay is home to some of the best small breweries in the nation, producing world-class beers of all styles. Whether you like hoppy IPAs, biscuit-y Czech-style pilsners, bold imperial stouts, or fruit-forward sours, the Bay has the best of the best.

But on March 2nd, there can only be one.

The competition will be split into 4 brackets over two rounds of blind tastes. The four brackets will be over larger beer categories as follows:

Gold Conference (lagers, golden ales, blondes, etc.)
Hop Conference (pales, IPAs, hazys, etc.)
Dark Conference (black lagers, porters, stouts, etc.)
Sour Conference (sours!!)

For Round 1, each conference will host four beers, of which patrons will choose their favorite in each group.

Once all the Round 1 votes are tallied, the non-winning beers will be revealed, with the winning beers announced simply by number and not by brewery (the mystery is all part of the fun~!). In Round 2 these 4 drastically different beers will then compete through a second round of tasting to determine the East Bay favorite!

Of course, this is a blind taste test! While the true beer connoiseurs might be able to recognize some of the beers, please don't spoil the fun!

Round 1: Try a taster pour of all16 beers available. Tasting will happen from 2pm - 3:45pm .

Once you've tried all the beers in Round 1, please select one beer per category that you feel truly embodies the best of what the bay has to offer and turn in your voting card under the redwood tree. Last call for voting will be 3:45 PM, although we'll walk around and make sure everyone gets a chance to vote.

Around 4pm, the winner of Round 1 will be announced, only revealing the breweries and beers of the beers knocked out of the competition.

Round 2: Enjoy additional taster pours of the remaining 4 beers.

Out of these beers you'll vote for the people's choice and winner of the East Bay All-Stars! Choose wisely.

Last call for voting will be 5:15pm, after which the winner will be announced and you'll be free to get an additional 10oz pour of any beer you want!
