East Brother Double IPA—A Beer for Dads and the Folks Who Love 'Em!

Recreating shared experiences is tough right now. Whether you’re planning a Memorial Day BBQ over Zoom or corralling your family over FaceTime to say Happy Father’s Day to the loved father figure in your life, we’ve got a beer that can bridge any distance.

On May 18th, we released our Double IPA, an 8.0% ABV beer that’s a staple of our Freighter Series. Aggressively hopped, loaded with citrus flavor, and balanced by a pronounced bitter finish, it’s made of the stuff dads and fans of dads love.

Our Freighter Series is a celebration of Big Ales—beers that are wildly different from our year-round Lagers but still honor what East Brother is all about: classic beers. They say the hardest things to get right are the classics, and at East Brother, we work hard to perfect the flavor of a true traditional West Coast Style IPA. But beer is labor, right? We’re meticulous about letting our beers speak for themselves, and we know the care and respect we have for classic styles shines in this beer.

This year’s DIPA is a celebration of both classic and local. We worked with Admiral Maltings, based in Alameda, to source the malt for this beer. We added Simcoe and Azaaca hops to bring out the classic flavors you’d expect from a DIPA—the combination of the two hops brings forth intense citrus flavors and mango notes. You’ll feel like summer is shining right on you.

This is the perfect beer for the season—it’s crisp, refreshing, malty, and balanced. It’ll easily pair with a casual cheese plate or a sausage straight off the grill. No matter what’s left in your pantry, DIPA is the perfect accompaniment.

Although family gatherings and picnics are on pause for the time being, you can still plan a raucous Memorial Day get together virtually—and cheers a can of DIPA together. You can get your hands on a 4-pack of this beer by visiting your local retailer, or by ordering for curbside pickup, delivery, or we’ll ship to you anywhere in California.
